For L&T Infotech, the force is in sales in Europe

MUMBAI: L&T Infotech won its largest ever new deal in the third quarter and the IT services firm is looking to boost its salesforce in Europe to diversify its revenue.

The Mumbai-headquartered company has said it is looking to double its revenue in three years and winning larger deals and growing in newer markets is part of that strategy.

“We won the largest new deal in the history of L&T Infotech in the third quarter. It was worth $50 million. Winning bigger deals and diversifying our revenue is a key focus. We are going very big on Europe and are bringing in senior salespeople to drive that,“ Sanjay Jalona, CEO of L&T Info tech, told ET. Europe contributed about 18% to L&T Infotech's top-line in the last quarter. He said the company could hire 10-15 people to bulk out a sales team in the continent.

Last year, the IT firm hired Sudhir Chaturvedi as its president of sales. Chaturvedi, who is based in London, was chief operating officer (COO) at NIIT Technologies.

The diversification will also help L&T Infotech deal with any potential protectionist rules that could be created under US President Donald Trump. “Diversification is the first part. We will also look at locali part. We will also look at localisation and reducing the amount of work done onsite through video-conferencing and other means. That is quite simple to do," he said.

"IT demand in the US is increasing, especially with deregu lation and a focus on buil ding infra. Yet, there is a skill crunch. Do nald Trump is an innovator and a busi nessman, I don't think they'll want to jeopardi se that," he said.
