Facebook launches Messenger Kids app in India

The social networking platform had launched its own messaging platform way back in 2011, as a connected app to it’s main offering - Facebook itself. Now, the Mark Zuckerberg led company has launched a Messenger Kids app in 70 new countries including India.

With schools closed worldwide and people social distancing, technology has become more central to people’s lives than before and is essential to maintain social ties.

Messenger Kids ports over most of the features of its big brother - video chat, messaging - into a parent-controlled space.

Facebook has worked with its Youth Advisors - a team of experts in online safety, child development and media - to shape the Messenger Kids app into a safe space.

Parents can manage who their kids interact with, and can monitor their child's activity in the app through the Parent Dashboard, where they can also download their child's information at any time.
