Essar names Jayantha Prabhu as Group CIO

MUMBAI: Essar Group, owned by the Ruia family, said it appointed Jayantha Prabhu as group chief information officer.

Prabhu has been with the conglomerate since 1999 and was responsible for creating and implementing the group’s technology plans as the chief technology officer for Essar Services.

The conglomerate, which has interests from steel to shipping, is boosting its focus on green IT and innovation.

“In his new role as Group CIO, he will be responsible for the Group IT strategy, enterprise architecture, information security, project delivery and Green IT & Sustainability amongst others,” Essar said in a statement.
