Deepak Patel is new COO of MphasiS
Mphasis has announced the appointment of Deepak Patel as the chief operating officer (COO).Mr Patel comes from EDS, which holds the majority stake in the IT services entity.
This appointment comes close on the heels of EDS India merging its operations in MphasiS. EDS acquired majority stake of 52% in MphasiS through an open offer and later hiked it to 62% following the merger of its Indian operations.
According to a release, MphasiS CEO Jerry Rao said, “He will play a key role in leading MphasiS post the merger.”
There has been much speculation of some of the key people from MphasiS exiting, following the management control being in the hands of EDS. Anant Koppar, who is heading its technology division is likely to leave MphasiS by the end of this year.Mr Rao said, “Deepak has played a key role in the merger process...that will in turn lead to an upward growth trajectory for the organisation.”
The merged entity has around 15,000 people and plans are to reach 20,000 by the end of this year.
Prior to this current role, Mr Patel was VP, best shore strategic investments and business development at EDS.
