BPO firm EXL Services acquires healthcare technology provider Landacorp

MUMBAI: Nasdaq-listed business process outsourcing provider EXL Services has acquired Landacorp Inc, a provider of healthcare technology solutions with over 50 million customers, for an undisclosed amount.

"This acquisition brings us a best-in-class proprietary technology platform, embedded analytics and deep healthcare domain expertise,"" said Rohit Kapoor, vice-chairman and CEO of EXL. EXL is headquartered in New York, but has a sizable offshore presence in India.

Following the acquisition, the company will be renamed EXL Landa. Its services and solutions enable collaborative care, provide insights through analytics, improve health and realise cost savings across the healthcare value chain, EXL said. Landacorp's flagship suite, CareRadius, integrates insurers' internal and external data.

"Healthcare payers are striving to drive down costs by increasing operational efficiency, to improve health outcomes and to enhance the customer experience. These dynamics, along with demographic trends and rapid regulatory change, are increasing the strategic value of care management systems," said Jay Dunlap, general manager of Landacorp.

Landacorp has a strong relationships with many leading health insurers and EXL sees an opening to establish a leadership position in healthcare, Kapoor said.

EXL had projected a revenue of $438 million- $442 million for the FY 2012 in July, assuming an exchange rate of Rs 55 to the dollar.
