BPO firm Aegis launches business intelligence tool

Essar group company, Aegis, which provides contact centre services and technology, has launched a business intelligence software suite called Aegis Pi.

This is the company's first foray into software. In 2010, it diversified from being only a provider of contact centre services to also providing the technology that runs the centres through its acquisition of Avaya GlobalConnect.

"Aegis Pi empowers organisations to predict business challenges before they arise and act pre-emptively to mitigate their impact,"said Aparup Sengupta, MD and global CEO, Aegis.

"This solution will enable clients to have access to real time information across the globe on a single window," he added.

The suite will compete with other business intelligence software in terms of the need it fulfills, but will only be available as a customisable solution and not as a product that can be licensed, its executive vice-president Sandeep Gulati said.

The firm is currently in advanced discussions with the governments of some African countries that want to implement it because it improves accountability, he added. The telecom and healthcare sectors in the Middle East region are also a focus for potential customers.

The software is the first offering from Aegis Innovation Labs and is targeted at increasing non-linearity in revenues. Gulati, who has worked with Dell and GE Capital earlier, leads the Aegis Pi initiative.
