BBC to outsource financing services here

The British Broadcasting Corp is outsourcing some of its accounting and financing services to India.

LONDON: The British Broadcasting Corp is outsourcing some of its accounting and financing services to India, agency reports said on Sunday. The move is aimed at the corporation saving almost £20m a year for the next decade.

“The BBC is taking advantage of the significant savings of globalisation, while maintaing the benefits of more local customer support,” the Corporation said in a statement on Sunday.

The contract, which includes managing payroll and financial management, has been won by Xansa. The company will provide customer support services from the UK, but other roles will be performed at its Chennai offices.

The resulting savings will go towards the BBC’s target of releasing £355m to be invested in programmes and services. The same contract was previously held by another private organisation, Medas.
