Azim Premji's email to employees hints at upcoming organizational reshuffle; says confident about Abidali Neemuchwala

BENGALURU: In an email to employees, Wipro's billionaire chairman Azim Premji hinted at broader upcoming organizational and top-level leadership changes, after Abidali Neemuchwala was named Wipro’s new chief executive on Monday.

"Over the past five years, our organization continues to transform into a next generation technology and consulting company, with defining differentiators in the market. We have built a stronger customer facing organization, increased our presence and wins in large deals, developed effective capability enhancement programs for employees and been at the forefront of technology changes," Premji said in an email to employees.

On Monday, Wipro also named outgoing CEO TK Kurien as its vice chairman, a position that had been lying vacant since Vivek Paul left the company in 2005. Both Kurien and Neemuchwala will take up their new roles on February 1.

Premji credited Neemuchwala for pioneering an organization-wide effort to realign the company’s delivery model, as well as other recent efforts to simplify Wipro's organizational structure.

"I am confident that he is the right leader to carry the baton and lead Wipro towards its next phase of growth," Premji said.

Premji also said that Kurien and Neemuchwala would soon announce more organizational structure changes at Wipro.

"TK and Abid will make a separate announcement on the new organization structure of Wipro Limited," he said.
