Infosys interim CEO Praveen Rao told employees that the appointment of Nandan Nilekani to the board is a milestone in ensuring the smooth transition of Infosys.

"This is a major milestone in ensuring the smooth transition of our organisation so we can focus even more on delivering the promises we have made to our clients and to ourselves," said Pravin Rao, interim CEO of Infosys in an email to the employees.

Infosys employees have been receiving multiple emails from the management since February in relation to the dispute between the board and founder Narayana Murthy.

The latest email regarding the board shake-up informed employees of the appointment of "iconic leader" Nandan Nilekani as Non-Executive Chairman who is "no stranger to Infosys".

The letter also mentioned other developments including the stepping down former board member R Seshasayee, Vishal Sikka, Jeffry Lehman and John Etchemendy. Ravi Venkatesan stepped down as co-chairman and will continue on the board as an Independent Director.

"Over the past week, I have been amazed and deeply touched by the support of our clients and every Infoscion as we go through this transition," Rao said, adding, "This is a true testament to our commitment to Infosys' values that each of you should espouse and demonstrate in your day to day work."
