AMD to launch fresh campaign soon

Microprocessor major AMD will roll out a publicity campaign 'See for Yourself Campaign' soon to showcase its products to consumers and take on arch rival intel.

KOLKATA: Microprocessor major AMD will roll out a publicity campaign 'See for Yourself Campaign' soon to showcase its products to consumers and take on arch rival intel.

"We are launching a 'See for Yourself Campaign' to take our products to the consumer. The campaign will roll out in a day or two," AMD India Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Ramkumar Subramanian told reporters here.

The government vertical in India was huge in terms of opportunity, but according to a study commissioned by AMD, 80-85 per cent of government tenders remained blocked for the company with most departments opting for Intel-based computers, he said.

As a strategy to counter this, AMD representatives were holding talks with the Centre and the state governments to explain to them the benefits of technology, he said.

Pointing out that AMD was looking at India as its investment hub in the future, Subramanin, however, hinted that it would depend on the unlocking of tenders and allowing the company a level playing field.

"Given a level playing field and an opportunity to participate, we can display a good value proposition for our products," AMD Corporate Vice-President (Asia Pacific Region) Ian Williams said.
