Alibaba betting big on India; plans to expand operations both organically and inorganically

Alibaba.com, is the global leader in e-commerce for small and medium enterprises and facilitates business-to-business international and domestic China trade.

HANGZHOU (CHINA): Chinese e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba is betting big on India. It plans to expand its operations both organically and inorganically at a time when the e-commerce segment in the country is attracting significant investor interest.

"India is an important market for us in terms of size and position and we are open to different options to strengthen our presence," Brian A Wong, vice-president (Global Supplier, Service & Sales) at Alibaba.com, told ET.

Alibaba.com, the flagship company of Alibaba, is the global leader in e-commerce for small and medium enterprises and facilitates business-to-business international and domestic China trade. The group also facilitates retail and payment platforms, a shopping search engine and data-centric cloud computing services, among others.
