AEPC sets up technology research centre in Gurgaon

The research centre was set up by the Apparel Training & Design Centre, which is under the AEPC, in collaboration with JUKI.

NEW DELHI: Apex apparel body AEPC on Wednesday said it has set up a 'Technology Innovation Research Centre' in Gurgaon to enhance quality of the products in the textiles sector.

"The centre is an important initiative to strengthen the apparel industry, especially the SMEs, to adopt new technologies for increasing productivity, efficiency and quality for better price realisation and global competitiveness," Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) said in a statement.

The research centre was set up by the Apparel Training & Design Centre, which is under the AEPC, in collaboration with JUKI India Pvt Ltd.

"This Centre will demonstrate leading edge technologies and undertake applied research," it said.

It will be launched by Textiles Secretary Kiran Dhingra tomorrow in the presence of AEPC Chairman A Sakthivel.

"Applied research combined with technology training can become a potent force to catalyse advancement of apparel production techniques and praxis, that would be relevant for India's apparel manufacturing environment," it added.
