A new technology for call centres to block unsolicited calls

Consumer Internet service provider Sify, along with global software leader Aspect Software, is introducing a technology that helps bloc unsolicited calls from call centres.

MUMBAI: Consumer Internet service provider Sify, along with global software leader Aspect Software, is introducing a technology that helps bloc unsolicited calls from call centres.

"With nearly 200 million subscribers, telephony in India is witnessing an unimaginable boom but carries one terrible downside - unsolicited calls. We have a special technology to block unsolicited calls from call centres," Aspect Software President and Chief Executive Officer James D Foy told media today.

"The subscriber has to first register himself as a Do Not Call customer with any regulatory body. The names would be included in a special DNC site. Likewise, he also has to inform the service provider like banks or cellular companies," Foy said.

Once it is done, before making any call to the potential customer, the call centre executive using our technology can confirm the DNC status of the customer from the list provided in the regulators' website. If the name matches with the list, the call will be automatically dropped from the caller source itself," he said.
