Yahoo launches new search concept, Glue Pages Beta, in country

The Indian edition of the global internet portal, Yahoo, launched a new search concept, called Glue Beta pages.

MUMBAI: The Indian edition of the global internet portal, Yahoo, on Thursday launched a new search concept, called Glue Beta pages.

India is the first market in which Glue Pages Beta is being launched.

"We have chosen India for a variety of reasons. First India is a very strategic market for Yahoo. Also, Yahoo's committment for India has gone up recently," Yahoo India's Head of Audience, Gopal Krishna, told PTI here.

He said that India was shifting to innovation, particularly local innovation, and this was another factor that has spurred Yahoo to make India its launching pad.

Asked whether Yahoo was planning to replicate the model in other markets, Krishna said, "it could be over a period of time.

Glue Pages Beta collates and integrates the best information from across the web on a single topical page. It is currently available for select search terms across categories such as health, sports, entertainment, travel, technology and finance.

Glue Pages Beta reults are displayed alongside the usual Yahoo!India search results.

The concept uses intuitive search technology to identify the most relevant search queries alongside classic Yahoo India search results.
