NEW DELHI: The services sector has seen segments such as wireless, internet and broadband services show resilience in the face of ongoing economic slowdown, according to an industry body. The Ficci report states that the number of wireless subscribers in the country grew 50% during April-November this year over last year. Similarly, the total internet user base increased 26% in the period, including broadband which grew 87.7%.

As per the report, better penetration, liberal policy measures and reforms undertaken by the government led to the growth in these service segments. Although the economic slowdown is expected to make a dent in the growth of some the service segments, the overall growth would be healthy this fiscal, Ficci said.

The services sector contributes 63% to the countrys GDP. The chamber said railways, media & entertainment, education and training services and organised retail witnessed a growth of up to 20% in April- November this year.

The air passenger traffic, fixed-line subscribers and insurance segments posted negative growth during the period.
