By January 2014, the number surged to 430 million in January 2014. Apart from WhatsApp, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, Line, and Hike are other popular messaging apps.
Looking at the increasing user-base of WhatsApps, Facebook has bought the popular messaging app for a whopping $19 billion earlier this year. In order to gain attention of users, another messaging app WeChat has started offering 1GB cloud storage free to help them store documents, pictures, and videos.
This app launched its operations in India in 2012 and it has over 100 million registered accounts internationally. Earlier this month, there were reports that WeChat is inching closer to WhatsApp with 438 million monthly active users.
