Website for freelance assignments launched in India
The registration on the website, Freelance.in is free for both job seekers and employers but it charges around 10% commission for every payment made to assignee.
"We work on escrow account model. Based on mutual agreement between freelance job seeker and employer, we take the minimum guaranteed amount in our escrow account. The payment will be disbursed as per the terms and agreement of the contract directly in to account of assignee," CEO of Freelancer.com Matt Barrie told reporters here.
He said that company is witnessing growth of job seekers in India.
"In 2011, over 200 thousand projects were for Indians on Freelance.com. With launch of Indian version of our website, we expect our user base in India to reach 2 million and disseminate payment between USD 15 to 20 million by end of 2012," Barrie said.
He said till date Freelancer.com has made payment worth Rs 100.5 crore to Indians and out of total jobs 7 per cent jobs were posted on the site by Indians.

"We have membership scheme as well. A gold member will have to pay us USD 24.95 per month and commission charged to him will be reduced to 3 per cent," Barrie said.
Barrie said that his company has tied up with HSBC Bank to facilitating Indian users transact in Indian currency.
