NEW DELHI: US’s Mojo Networks is bullish on India’s public WiFi space and is “deeply” engaged with internet service providers (ISP) and players like Google and Facebook for the WiFi deployment, a top official said.

The company has already deployed over 80,000 access points for Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio, which is building a billion-user Wi-Fi network in India as part of a broader network expansion, Kiran Deshpande, co-founder & president of Mojo Networks, told ET, adding that initiatives like smart cities offer great opportunity for Mojo to expand in pubic Wi-Fi space. “With Jio, our deployments have covered three primary use cases: hotspots, colleges and (4G) LTE offload. It [Jio project] has created opportunities with ISPs deploying WiFi and smart cities,” Despande said.

While Cisco is also a part of Jio’s WiFi deployment, Deshpande said Mojo will continue to deploy more access points across the country.

The company is also working with QuadGen Wireless Solutions, which is helping BSNL to build, operate and own a telecom-grade WiFi network in nine states. In addition to the carrier domain, the company has been working with enterprises for their WiFi needs in India and globally.
