BANGALORE: US-based Ixia, a provider of performance test systems for IP-based infrastructure and services, today opened a research and development and customer support centre in Bangalore.

The facility would work on development of next generation IP performance testing solutions and act as a certification lab besides providing customer support services, company Executive Vice-President (Operations) Sam Bass told a news conference here.

In the coming years, Ixia said it has plans to increase its presence and penetration in verticals like carrier, enterprise and government markets across the Asia Pacific.

The company said India has evolved as one of its key markets for expansion, accounting for 30 per cent of its R&D activities.

"India's contribution to our global growth has been increasing over the years. It has now become one of our most important growth markets," Bass said.

The country is also poised for a substantial sales growth by the company in the next three years due to increased R&D activities from its US-based customers.
