In a blog post, Tweetdeck's Iain Dodsworth, the British designer and programmer who founded the web site, said Tweetdeck has been focussed on providing "high-quality tools and services for the Twitter-centric power-user."
"It is precisely for this reason that Twitter has acquired TweetDeck. The mainstream Twitter user-base is well catered for by twitter.com and the official mobile clients.
By becoming part of the official platform, TweetDeck will now fill the role for brands, influencers, the highly active and anyone that just needs more power," Dodsworth said.
Earlier this month, technology blog 'TechCruch' had reported that the TweetDeck transaction is valued at about USD 50 million. TweetDeck is one of Twitter's top third party customers using software application for Internet social networking services.
