Times Internet launches ETAuto.com

NEW DELHI: Times Internet Ltd, part of The Times Group and India's leading online network, on Wednesday launched ETAuto.com, a new digital vertical dedicated to the automotive industry. The Economic Times Auto, or ETAuto.com, will provide comprehensive and in-depth coverage of automobile news, apart from being a platform for knowledge on the industry. Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Praful Patel launched ETAuto.com in New Delhi.

"Digital media is going to be the future. I am delighted to launch the ETAuto.com and think it is going to set a trend for serious business journalism online," he said, while unveiling the platform. "The Indian auto industry is gaining importance globally and is likely to take the top spot from the current seventh position. I hope this new informative portal would be able to encapsulate the entire industry in detail," he added.

ETAuto.com has received widespread support from top industry bodies including the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India, Federation of Automobile Dealers Association and the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association.

Speaking on the occasion, Times Internet CEO Satyan Gajwani said: "We hope that ETAuto.com will become the most preferred platform to read real-time developments in the automotive industry in the form of news, views, blogs and interviews. We are happy to get associated with all the major auto industry associations. This initiative will serve as a platform for all the stakeholders to exchange ideas and best practices."

The new venture would cover various segments of automotive business, such as manufacturing companies, policy, aftermarket and technology. ETAuto.com would also reach its readers through a comprehensive daily E-Newsletter, summarising the day's news and analysis. It has already got more than 10,000 pre-launch subscribers.

The Indian auto industry accounts for almost 7% of the country's gross domestic product and employs about 20 million people, both directly and indirectly.
