Tatas, Google team up to bring solutions for Indian businesses

"Both companies will work together to provide business tools such as email, instant messaging, video, calendar functionality and office presentations over the Internet,using the Google Apps software suit, targeting nearly 4 million SME's in the country," Tata Communication's President (India and South Asia), Sandeep Mathur told reporters here.
The collaboration leverages Tata Communication's market presence and expertise in India with Google's innovative offerings to provide a unique and easily accessible business application, Mathur said.
The portfolio of business tools, powered by Google Apps, is a significant move by both parties to bring value-added applications to Indian enterprises while offering localised pricing, billing and support, he added.
"The service is simple to subscribe, easy to use and streamlines the complexities of IT while allowing businesses to pay for only what they need, Mathur said. Indian firms, particularly the emerging enterprises, will now have expanded access to Tata Communications' cloud-based software services, helping them migrate their IT requirements to a pay-as-you-use business model," he said.
Google India, the collaboration partner, will further strengthen its research and development services by hiring 100 more people this year.
"We are hiring nearly 100 people in our R&D setup in India. The new set up will mainly cater services in cloud computing as there will bea huge demand in coming years from this continent," Google (India,R&D) Director and Country Head, Peeyush Ranjan told.
