Site issues cause outage for some Facebook users

Unspecified site issues caused Facebook to be slow or unavailable for some of its 500 million users.

SAN FRANCISCO: Facebook says unspecified site issues caused the social-networking site to be slow or unavailable for some of its 500 million users.

Facebook spokeswoman Kathleen Loughlin said in an e-mail to The Associated Press just before 10 p.m. Tuesday that the company was working to resolve the problem.

Loughlin did not say when Facebook began acting up, but the phrase ``Facebook Isnt Working'' was one of the top trending topics late Tuesday night on another social-networking site, Twitter.

Facebook, the world's largest online social network, also experienced a technical glitch on Sept. 23 that blocked or slowed access for several hours. The online hangout site has called that outage the worst it's had in more than four years.
