Simple tricks to save your mailbox from being a garbage bin

I don't know if it happens with everyone of us, but seeing a mailbox with more than 10 unread mails in my inbox gives me a mild headache, directly proportional to the number of mails and the time I take to deal with them.

If you suffer from the same pinch of inbox OCD like me, here are a few tips on how you can save your mailbox from being a garbage bin.

Delete By Date

This is the default setting in all the mailboxes for a reason. Sorting emails by date helps delete the mails about events that happened way back in time, or about some reports the official work of which has been shredded for long. If you know that there is no need of any mail in your inbox, delete it.

Delete By Sender

Newsletters that you accidentally subscribed to, Facebook notifications that just won't stop buzzing, there are many such mails that no longer require your attention, or never did. Unsubscribe from them after deleting so that you save the trouble for the next time.

Delete By Subject

This usually works for sent items. Jobs you applied to, pictures you sent to someone and liked on Facebook, in short, things worth deleting that you can identify by the subject can save you a lot of time.

Delete By Size

If someone sent you a mail with a large-sized attachment you would most certainly have saved it in your system, or they can be saved in an online drive, and deleted.

Delete By Time Intervals

Decluttering a mailbox can take a lot of time, doing it from time to time can save a lot of time. The choice is yours. If you do, however, decide to go the right way and do it at regular time intervals, you should do it once every month, so that you don't end up deleting things you might need in the near future.
