Sherpalo Ventures eyes clean energy companies

Ram Shriram, the founding board member of Google, is looking at investing in companies dealing in clean energy for investment through Sherpalo Ventures, a VC firm founded by him in 2000.

Mumbai: Ram Shriram, the founding board member of Google, is looking at investing in companies dealing in clean energy for investment through Sherpalo Ventures, a VC firm founded by him in 2000.
"We are looking at clean energy as a sector to make our next investment," he told reporters on the sidelines of a function.
Sherpalo Venture has a strong India focus and has till date invested about $ 70 million in 12 companies including travel portal, Cleartrip.
On the impact of the credit crunch in the world market, Shriram said it would not affect the small venture capitalist firms.
Earlier in his address, Shriram highlighted cloud computing as the way forward for the internet.
Cloud computing could be described as an application or information based on centrally located servers providing access to all.
The user can access this through an internet connection on computer or mobile phones. Google and Yahoo are examples of cloud computing.
