Sabeer revives his Arzoo

MUMBAI: Hotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia has relaunched travel website ‘arzoo .com’ that could not survive the dot-com bubble halfa-decade ago.

The travel portal offers domestic and international flight tickets booking, hotel reservations. Bhatia, who is the president and chief executive officer of ‘arzoo.com’, did not give away the investment details. Bhatia said he has invested a ‘‘few million dollars’’ for the relaunch of the site.

‘arzoo.com’ was launched in 1999, but the company could not withstand the dotcom bubble burst that followed in 2001. “We lost lots of money in a short time and did not get back the returns as we had expected,” Bhatia pointed out.

Besides the internet, customers can book their tickets through a toll free number or send an SMS. As the penetration level of the internet is less, Bhatia said, customers can opt for either the SMS or the toll-free number to book their requirements.
