Rediff CEO rings Nasdaq opening bell

The 1996 founded company has its headquarters in Mumbai and offices in New Delhi and New York.

NEW YORK: Mumbai-based Rediff.com's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ajit Balakrishnan on Monday rung the opening bell at the Nasdaq Stock Market to mark the entry of the shares of the web portal major in the Nasdaq Global Market.
The American Depository Shares of Rediff.com would be traded on the Nasdaq Global Market Monday onwords, instead of Nasdaq Capital Market where it was being traded earlier.
Balakrishnan said the company was looking forward to this ocassion, which marks the upgrade in trading platform for Rediff shares to the Nasdaq Global Market.
Rediff shares opened higher at 16.5 dollars at Nasdaq, following a jump of 5.45 per cent to 16.45 dollars on Friday last week. The company's market capitalisation currently stands at about 423 million dollars.
