Practo launches customized app for specialist doctors

BENGALURU: Healthcare startup Practo has launched a customized app for physicians, paediatricians and dentists that will allow them to digitally prescribe laboratory tests and check results in real time, among other things.

The app, Practo Ray, also includes a database of nearly 1 lakh commonly prescribed medicines so doctor can search for and prescribe the right medicine.

“With this launch of Practo Ray… we will be able to provide better tools to doctors and significantly improve patient care for some of the biggest healthcare issues plaguing our country,” said Shashank ND, founder and chief executive.

For example, Practo Ray Paediatric uses five automated growth charts based on World Health Organization standards to document growth patterns of children.

Practo Ray Dental EMR (electronic medical record) will allow dentists to keep track of procedures such as crowns, bridges and dentures, and monitor and update the status of lab orders.

“Over the next few months, Practo Ray will cover more specialties including ophthalmology and gynaecology,” the company said in a statement. These will be available in India, Singapore and the Philippines.
