PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate Global Conference on Cyber Space

NEW DELHI: India will host the fifth Global Conference on Cyber Space ( GCCS) in November 2017 and plans to invite stalwarts of the Indian IT industry for it. One of the largest cyber security conferences in the world, GCSS will be held in New Delhi. Union Minister for electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad said that prime minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the conference whose theme will be based on Cyber4All: An Inclusive, Sustainable, Developmental, Safe and Secure Cyberspace.

"We will also reach out to people like Satya Nadella, Sundar Pichai, Nandan Nilekani, N.R Narayana Murthy, Mukesh Ambani etc, who have taken the tech industry to great heights to participate in this conference," said Prasad.

To be held in India for the first time, the two-day conference will see the participation of around 2000 delegates from senior Government officials, industry leaders, academia and civil society from over 100 countries.

"The fact that the conference will be held in India for the first time reflects the changing architecture of India in the digital space," said Prasad. He added that the conference will be planned in close coordination with industry bodies such as Nasscom, CII, Assocham, FICCI along with academia.

GCCS is expected to deliberate on issues relating to promotion of cooperation in cyberspace, norms for responsible behaviour in cyberspace and to enhance the cyber capacity building.
