The move offers Airtel customers an alternate mode of payment for their bills and recharges while Paytm leverages the telecom operator’s platform for additional transactions.
“This is in line with our network expansion strategy, which will give our users a seamless payment experience on Airtel platforms as well,” said Kiran Vasireddy, vice-president at Paytm.
The association with Airtel is part of Paytm’s expansion spree of strategic partners for its wallet services. It has been widening the orbit of online and offline retail brands where customers can pay for their movie tickets, electricity bills and taxi rides via their Paytm wallets.
Interestingly, Airtel has its own wallet, called Airtel Money, through which a consumer can load money and then use it for a host of services, including sending money, paying bills and recharging directly from mobile.
