Obama visit rules search engine Google with maximum hits

NEW DELHI: US President Barack Obama's India visit was widely tracked by netizens today, making his maiden trip to the country as the most searched item on Google.

According to Google Trends, which provides insights into broad search patterns, Obama's visit ranked as the most searched item on search website Google India.

Indians searched for results like 'Obama visit to India', 'Obama in Mumbai', 'Obama Biography' as well as other related topics such as 'Air Force One', the aircraft in which the President arrived.

The search peaked around noon as the President's contingent neared Indian shores, the data showed.

Mumbai, which is the first destination where the President has made the stop, was most enthusiastic with the maximum search traffic.

New Delhi and Bangalore also saw a huge number of people searching for the latest on news and other updates on Obama's visit to the country.

Obama arrived here today on the first leg of his three-day visit that will seek to focus on opening up of Indian markets for American businesses and deal with wide range of political issues, including strategy on counter-terrorism.

The Air Force One carrying Obama and his wife Michelle touched down at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport here at 12:50 pm.
