NEW DELHI: Instant messaging platform Nimbuzz, on Wednesday announced that it has crossed the 100 million user landmark, hence making into the big league of top 20 most used internet platforms in the mobile and Web communications space.

The company claims to have about 17 million users in India, with most of its installed based still on Nokia devices, closely followed by Android. The company claims to have about 6.5 million users in US.

Middle East is the largest market for Nimbuzz with about 30 million users, followed by India (17 million), South Asia (14 million), Africa (13 million) and Europe (10 million).

Nimbuzz delivery and development centre is based in Gurgaon. The privately owned Dutch company counts What's App, Blackberry messenger, Skype, Apple's iChat, and Yahoo messenger as its rival platforms across the world.

Launched in the Netherlands in 2006, Nimbuzz addresses a growing global demand for data usage as the only multi-language solution with more than 25 regional languages.

Growing at over 100%, it now has more than 100 million users in 80 countries.
