Networking glitch stymies some Facebook users

An outside technical problem has left some Facebook users unable to connect with the cherished online social network, the company said.

SAN FRANCISCO: An outside technical problem has left some Facebook users unable to connect with the cherished online social network, the company said.

"We are experiencing an issue with a third-party networking provider that is causing problems for some people trying to connect to Facebook," the California firm said.

"We are in contact with this provider in order to explore what can be done to resolve the issue. In the meantime, we are working on deploying changes to bypass the affected connections."

The problem appeared to involve only a small portion of the social networks more than 500 million members.
