National Security Council proposes public-private partnership for cyber-security
The National Security Council Secretariat is looking to get into public-private partnership to strengthen cyber-security and build an entire ecosystem.
In its latest report on the "Recommendations of Joint Working Group on Engagement with Private Sector on Cyber Security," National Security Advisor Shivshankar Menon highlighted that, given the diverse stakeholders in cyber security, a permanent mechanism for private-public partnership should be set up.
Apart from this, the team should look into establishing India as a global hub of development of cyber security products by working on joint R&D projects to meet the cyber security needs of the country.
"A need was felt that the government and private sector collaborate and work together to overcome the challenges of cyber security," said Menon in a press statement.
Some of the other key recommendations of the JWG include the creation of information sharing and analysis centres in various industry verticals by the private sector, provide training to law enforcement agencies in cyber crime investigation and promotion, and dissemination of cyber security awareness among the public.
