BENGALURU: LinkedIn, a social network for professionals owned by American technology company Microsoft, named Ashutosh Gupta as country manager for India, its second such appointment in six months.

The previous country manager, Mahesh Narayanan, said he left LinkedIn to pursue other opportunities in the country’s fast-growing digital ecosystem.

Gupta will take over in September and report to Olivier Legrand, LinkedIn’s managing director for the Asia-Pacific region.

He will join the company’s APAC senior management team, relocating to India from Singapore to assume his new responsibility. In addition to his role as country manager, he will continue to lead the LinkedIn’s Marketing Solutions Online Sales Organisation for APAC and China.

“India is a strategic market for LinkedIn, and its developing economy and dynamic jobs market are ripe with opportunity for LinkedIn to add value for our members and customers,” said Gupta. “I also look forward to forging deeper government relationships to inform policy-making with actionable data on jobs and skills, and make LinkedIn an integral part of the national agenda.”

Narayanan was the country manager for LinkedIn for six months from January-June 2019.
