KANPUR: Kanpur, one of the most populated city of north India, has now got its own website with the authorities trying to promote the city, attract more tourists, redress grievances and to act as precursor for e-governance through the site.

"The main aim of launching the website is to provide a platform to the citizens of Kanpur through which they can easily contact the governing authorities and inform them about their problems," District Magistrate Anil Kumar Sagar, under whose aegis the site has been developed, said.

The website also aims at establishing transparency in the administration, he said.

The website carries all contact details, including phone numbers of both official and personal (even mobile) of all government officials, he said adding that a "DM blog" has been incorporated so that Kanpurites can directly inform authorities about their problems.

The site also informs about the history of the city and gives details about Bithoor situated on the outskirts of the city, the famed J K Temple, the Moti Jheel, the state zoological gardens and other tourist spots.

It also carries details about various educational institutes like IIT-Kanpur, HBTI-Kanpur, CSJM University and others.
