'Jobs', 'travel', 'mobiles' top search keywords on Yahoo!

NEW DELHI: Jobs, travel and mobile phones are at the top of Indian netizen's minds when it comes to online searches, global Internet giant Yahoo! today said.

According to Yahoo!'s 'Top 10 Most Popular Search Keywords', 'jobs' were the most searched keyword in India, followed by travel, mobile phones and matrimony.

Local online job portal Naukri.com was ranked at No. 1, followed by Monster.com and Monster Jobs in the most popular search keyword list, Yahoo! said in a statement.

'Nokia Mobile' and 'broadband providers' also featured among the top keywords in India, Yahoo! added.

With a resurgence in the hospitality sector, travel- related search keywords are also becoming popular, while there is a considerable rise in searches with 'matrimony' as the keyword as well.

These trends suggest a significant shift in consumer behaviour patterns, it added.

The study analysed search marketing data from India during the first half of 2010.

"With numerous users and insightful observations on consumers, Yahoo!'s search marketing service can help advertisers find their potential consumers," it said.
