Gmail and G suite faces outage, users take to social media to complain

Gmail and Google Suite users in India suffered an outage for over an hour on Wednesday evening, which the company acknowledged and said it was working to resolve the issue.

"Thanks for reporting. We are aware of the issue and are working on a fix. Appreciate your patience,” Google's email service responded to concerned users on its Twitter handle. The gmail app on mobile phones did not face issue.

On Twitter, #Gmail was trending with users posting memes and jokes to express their confusion over the sudden outage.


In Gmail response screenshots posted by users the email service provider said that it was aware that a significant number of users had reported of the issue.

Gmail has a large user base in India and has been promoting its Google Suite of products aggressively amongst an expanding user base. It is not clear whether the issue only pertains to Indian users.

Some users also tweeted that Gmail and Google was working on mobile networks, but not broadband networks.

Some users also posted screenshots of response messages from Google that stated, “Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.”
