Hi-tech cyber crime cell to be set up

Kerala govt would set up a special Hi-tech crime investigation cell at an estimated cost of Rs 3 crore in order to effectively tackle the rising cyber crimes in the state.

THRISSUR: The Kerala government would set up a special Hi-tech crime investigation cell at an estimated cost of Rs three crore in order to effectively tackle the rising cyber crimes in the state, Kerala State Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said on Saturday.

Inauguarating the delegates session of the Kerala Police Association's silver jubilee convention here, he said the Union government had given necessary clearance in this regard.Cyber crime was on the rise in the state, he said.

Separate recruitment would be made for the Vigilance Wing and 50 per cent of the officials would be recruited while the remaining would be taken in on deputation as was being done presently, he said.
