The KITT car used in David Hasselhoff's 1980s hit show 'Knight Rider' is being auctioned on the Internet.

LONDON: The KITT car used in David Hasselhoff's 1980s hit show 'Knight Rider' is being auctioned on the Internet.

The black 1984 Pontiac Trans Am has been put up for sale on the Web site eBay, and has attracted a top bid of 27,000 pounds so far.

The car has a distinctive red light bar in the nose

"Inside, a panel of lights and screens depicted a look at the future of automobile technology - a future that exists in some ways today," British tabloid The Sun quoted the listing as saying.

The listing also states that the car was made for the 1984 Knight Rider TV movie, and for "exhibition and promotional purposes".

The US series starred actor Hasselhoff as Michael Knight, a former policeman recruited by the Foundation of Law and Order to fight crime.
