Gujarat doing well in implementing e-procurement

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat may have missed the IT bus, but when it comes to using technology for speedy and transparent procurement process, the state falls in the top bracket.

Apart from Andhra Pradesh, which is still leading in state-wide implementation of e-procurement, Gujarat is at par with other top states. A total of 1,314 tenders worth cumulative value of around Rs 2,800 crore have been floated through e-procurement mechanism by the state government between April 2005 and March 31, 2007 through the ‘(n)procure’ website.

“What’s more, the major chunk of it came during last three months,” says Jagdeep Kochar of (n)Code Solutions, a software division of the Rs 1,657-crore GNFC. Road and buildings department is a major contributor to the sum.

The state government last year passed a resolution that all the government departments as well as the public undertakings are required to float e-tender and procure through e-procurement. The services are being provided in the state by (n)Code Solutions.
