GST: Commercial Taxes department, IIMB sign up to work on big data analytics

BENGALURU: The Commercial Taxes department has signed up with IIMB to work on big data analytics for tax administration. The department wants to make its tax administration more data driven.

The department has also signed another MoU, under which the department will send its officials to IIMB to get trained under capacity building programmes over the next three years. "We want to build a platform for big data analytics for revenue stabilisation by providing solutions through research analysis," said M.S.Srikar, Commissioner of Commercial Taxes.

In a press note, he said, expertise of IIMB in big data analytics, NIC's software and the Commercial Taxes department's domain knowledge could help achieve desired objectives. The government has also allowed the department to undertake bid data analytics on the GST data to find insight in collaboration with IIMB.
