Govt to provide Rs 3.5 cr to CBI to tackle cyber crime
The government on Friday said it would provide an assistance of Rs 3.5 crore to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for developing expertise in tackling cyber crime.

NEW DELHI: The government on Friday said it would provide an assistance of Rs 3.5 crore to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for developing expertise in tackling cyber crime.
"Ministry of Communications and IT will give Rs 3.5 crore to CBI for procuring latest software and tools for tackling cyber crime," IT and Communications Minister A Raja said at the Interpol Cyber Crime conference.
The Ministry would also help CBI in training their officials to deal with issues involving cyber crime.
The governments is also working on bringing about amendments in the IT Act, 2000 for tackling cyber crime.
The proposed amendments would address a number of concerns such as data protection, data theft, e-commerce frauds, child pornography, identity documents theft, privacy issues among others.
The Ministry is holding discussions with various stakeholders to evolve the amendments.
"Discussions are being held with the stakeholders, including private companies, CBI and other investigative agencies," he said.
Raja said after discussions, the IT Act would be placed in public domain for comments.
