LONDON: Google marked ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius' 2,560th birthday by changing its homepage logo.

The Confucius image the search engine giant adopted to commemorate the anniversary of his birth aroused a lot of interest among netizens, reports the Telegraph.

Confucius is thought to have been born on September 28, 551BC, in or close to the eastern Chinese city of Qufu, presently in Shandong Province.

Considered to be the most famous Chinese teacher and thinker, he is still revered in several Asian countries.

His conclusions on life and the world around him started the movement of Confucianism, which was introduced to the West by Matteo Ricci, an Italian Jesuit, in the late 16th century.
