Internet search giant Google India on Wednesday launched a campaign with Internet and Mobile Association of India and the government to create awareness among children about safe Net surfing practices.

NEW DELHI: Internet search giant Google India on Wednesday launched a campaign with Internet and Mobile Association of India and the government to create awareness among children about safe Net surfing practices.

The campaign is a part of Google India's 'Be NetSmart' initiative, which is an interactive programme focusing on students, parents and teachers. It aims to educateyouth on Internet safety in schools.

"Awareness should be created at the grassroot level among the youth about Internet safety. With the proliferation of so many social networking sites, it has become imperative that they are told about the dangers of sharing personal information with strangers," IAMAI President Subho Ray said.
