Google CEO to meet students at alma mater IIT-Kharagpur

"Sundar Pichai, CEO Google and Distinguished Alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, has expressed his desire to visit the campus in the first week of January 2017," IIT-Kharagpur director Partha Pratim Chakrabarti said.

NEW DELHI: On 5th January early morning (10.30 am) students at IIT Kharagpur would get an opportunity to chat with one of the most sought after alumnus- Google Inc CEO Sundar Pichai. His chat session with students called "Back on campus with Sundar" is happening the first time after he was appointed CEO of the tech company that happens to be a favorite recruiter among IIT students.

An official at Google (India) confirmed to an email sent out by ET of his campus visit. "He will be visiting IIT KGP on 5th of January. He will be meeting the dean and other professors as part of the trip. Following this he will host a chat with the students on campus," he said in the mail.

The session with the students will take place at IIT Kharagpur's Tagore Open Air Theatre. Last year, IIT KGP had also announced Pichai as the recipient of distinguished alumni award. The institute on its part has invited students to come back to campus on time after the winter break to be able to listen to Pichai.

Pichai had passed out from the IIT kharagpur with a B-Tech in metallurgical and materials engineering. He then went on to pursue an MS in Engineering and Materials Science from Stanford University and an MBA from the Wharton School.
