Digital India programme: Government rolls out beta version of 'digital locker'
Digital locker would allow citizen to keep all certificates, from birth certificate to degrees, in digital format online and access them using their Aadhaar numbers.

To try the beta version of the digital locker — one of the most ambitious aspects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India programme — a user needs to create a login account at its website using his/her Aadhaar card, or unique identification ( UID), number.
The department of electronics and information technology (DeitY), which launched the beta version on Tuesday, has invited comments from users on the government’s idea crowdsourcing platform myGov.in. Multiple attempts to create an account by this reporter, however, were met with “UID service is not responding. Please try again”.
The digital locker scheme envisions placing educational, medical, passport and PAN card details of every Indian in a digital form.
“Digital locker will allow you to securely upload and share your documents anytime, anywhere to authorised users/agencies. The issuer departments will also be able to automatically push the link of your document kept in their repositories,” the website says. The beta version of the locker is being maintained by the Maharashtra government and Tata Consultancy Services.
