Department of Electronics and Information and Technology to collaborate with Google for Internet safety campaign

NEW DELHI: The Department of Electronics and Information and Technology (DeitY) will launch an Internet safety campaign in the country in collaboration with Google and the Computer Emergency Response Team-India. The government’s idea crowdsourcing platform, MyGov, which works under DeitY, hosted a roundtable discussion on Wednesday to decide on a roadmap and consider the over 650 ideas received on the subject through MyGov.

“The Internet offers many opportunities to explore, create and collaborate. We are starting a nationwide campaign sensitising our youth and policy makers in Mission Safer Internet. Google and Cert-In are our partners in this effort and are committed to keeping our users safe and secure,” said MyGov CEO Gaurav Dwivedi.

As part of Internet Safety Campaign initiated by MyGov, DeitY additional secretary Tapan Ray suggested a year round programme to raise awareness among key policymakers on Internet safety issues.
