NEW DELHI: Cyberbreaches or insider threats have increased to 41% in India, and 83% are using forensic data analytics for investigating these frauds, a global survey by consultancy EY has found. In a survey of 665 respondents across 17 countries with organisations actively using forensic data analytics, EY found that there is a long way to go for Indian enterprises. “It was noted that organisational reluctance to invest significantly in forensic data analytics is partly due to lack of management buying around its potential return on investment,” said Arpinder Singh, partner and national leader, fraud investigation & dispute services, EY.

He, however, said forensic data analytics (FDA) is a critical component that can have a significant impact on growing threats such as internal fraud, cyber crime, corruption and money laundering. EY said FDA “is a science used to proactively seek opportunities to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse by leveraging information in corporate data assets”.
