CIC to launch dedicated web site for complaints and appeals

The Central Information Commission would be launching a dedicated web site tomorrow for RTI applicants to file online their complaints and appeals.

NEW DELHI: The Central Information Commission would be launching a dedicated web site tomorrow for RTI applicants to file online their complaints and appeals.

RTI applicants can file their complaint and second appeals against the decision of various public authorities using online-application forms available on the new website 'www.rti.india.gov.in'.

The website will also update them on the status of their complaints.

Though CIC web site had a page for filing the complaints, users were finding it difficult to access.

"The dedicated web site was the need of the hour as the CIC web portal was getting clogged with judicial and quasi-judicial information. It was very difficult for any ordinary person to find the online appeal filing system on it," Joint Registrar Pankaj Shreyaskar said.

After filing their complaint on the web site, the applicant will have to send a signed copy of the same through post.

"For legal purposes, we will need the signatures of the applicant which is still not easily possible through internet. So the person needs to send the signed form via postal mail as well," he said.
